Ultra cyclist Kabir Rachure from Maharashtra took a podium finish in his category at the Race Across America (RAAM) on Sunday, a first for an Indian in what is billed as the world’s toughest cycling race.

Rachure, a lawyer hailing from Marathwada who practices at the Bombay High Court, placed third in the solo men’s under-50 category, completing the 3,038-mile race in 11 days, 11 hours and 25 minutes, according to the official standings.

The solo men’s under-50 category was won by Bozak, while American Phil Fox finished six hours ahead of Rachure, according to the standings.
