Democrats have been running around like decapitated chickens since news broke that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy gave Tucker Carlson unfettered access to Capitol surveillance footage during the January 6, 2021 riot by Trump supporters.
The Fox News host will air five stories cut from the footage on Monday and Tuesday nights, counterbalancing the over-the-top “insurgency” narrative that Democrats and their media toads have been pushing since day one.
Pushed by the partisan J6 committee, the characterization of conservative Republicans as an “ultra-MAGA semi-fascist” threat to democracy was the Democrats’ main sales pitch during the midterms last year.
Dems don’t have much else to run in 2024, so Carlson’s fact-finding mission poses an existential threat to their electoral prospects.
So they hyperbolically accuse McCarthy of endangering the home’s security and handing over the tools for “the next uprising” to Carlson, who, unsurprisingly, they fantasize about being a Russian sleeper cop.
Emotional processing
But when you see what Carlson’s team has put together over the past two weeks, sifting through thousands of hours of video, you’ll notice how different the reality inside the building was that day compared to the J6 committee’s deceptively edited prime-time dramas. . , produced by a former ABC News president for maximum emotional impact.
For example, Carlson’s team says the J6 committee added audio to silent camera footage, screams and other crowd noises to make it seem more ominous. The bookmarks on the video store show that the J6 committee had access to the same footage, but chose to show America only what suited its divisive narrative.
There is no sugar coating what happened that day; J6 was shocking and violent in parts. It remains a stain on the nation, but it was not an “insurgency” or a “terrorist” attack.
It was not the “biggest threat” to American democracy since the Civil War, as Joe Biden claims. It was no worse than 9/11. The only people who died that day were Trump supporters.
Despite the largest investigation in FBI history – certainly an exaggeration – no one has been charged with “insurgency” and there is no evidence of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result. Proceedings resumed a few hours late and Biden’s victory was confirmed.
It was an ugly explosion of mob anger, but it lasted only hours, compared to the months of deadly chaos that engulfed the country before the 2020 election.
Yet the American public has been subjected to a campaign of lies about J6 with cherry-picked video looping over two years of violent Trump supporters smashing windows.
We’ve been told the lie that police officers were killed when none were there. Brian Sicknick died of a stroke the next day.
It has been a non-stop, one-sided propaganda campaign as the Democrats dominated every power grab in Washington.
But now that the GOP controls the House, it’s time for transparency, and that’s what McCarthy delivered.
Carlson will show the counter-narrative, giving the American public a more balanced view of what happened that day.
He will show that the J6 committee twisted everything.
He will feature hundreds of peaceful people in the Capitol behaving like tourists, politely lining up, walking within rope lines, taking selfies, and stopping to pick up a toppled bollard, all while the police watch.
Most notably, for the first time you will see the truth about the so-called Qanon shaman, Jacob Chansley.
This is the man with the horns and face paint who became the poster child of J6 villain, and yet, if you watch his journey through the Capitol, you’ll be shocked to find him serving 3.5 years in prison for “obstructing official proceedings “.
How many other innocent Americans were sacrificed to a federal justice system that was perverted because of a political lie?
Now is it a security risk?
That’s why the Democrats are so scared. Their edifice of lies is about to collapse and all they can do is throw mud in the hope that half the country will be left in limbo. Slandering Carlson is their preferred tactic.
Democratic delegate Jamie Raskin told MSNBC’s Joy Reid that it was a “serious security risk” to give the tapes to Carlson because he is “pro-Putin . . . that’s really not in Putin’s playbook.”
As usual, Raskin’s allusions to Russian conspiracy make no sense, but he seems to be saying that somehow Vladimir Putin will watch Carlson’s program and learn how to attack the Capitol. “The reason all [the footage] was not released precisely because the design of the floor, it plots evacuation routes, it plots where the vice president went, it plots where the senior members of Congress were evacuated,” Raskin said.
What a joke.
First, Carlson’s team has been meticulous about anticipating security vulnerabilities, and the footage they use will be vetted by the House before being broadcast.
Second, the J6 committee showed endless footage of the evacuation of then-Vice President Mike Pence and Republican Senator Josh Hawley, plus scenes from McCarthy’s office as his staffers prepared to flee. Not worried about safety there?
Third, Nancy Pelosi’s filmmaker daughter appears to have accessed the footage to create a documentary.
Carlson’s program has been much more responsible and cautious.
