Hair expert warns against colours that ’emphasise split ends’ & highlight ‘fine lines’


The expert would advise against going just one colour though, suggesting that mature ladies experiment with a variety of different shades.

Adding some lighter tones can help to brighten the complexion and also add some dimension and movement to your ‘do.

She said: “If darker hair is your thing, ask your stylist to add light-reflecting tones to lift your locks and create a multi-dimensional anti-ageing effect, such as mocha, chocolate, caramel, mahogany, gold or copper.”

She suggested going for a subtle balayage, a technique that involves highlighting the hair in sweeping motions.
