Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams had a famous last word moment in Monday night’s overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In the fourth quarter, Williams had a chance to give Boston the lead and probably the win with less than 1 second on the clock. Williams was fouled on a shot and assured Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell that he would make both shots.

He didn’t.

“He gave us both, but I didn’t take out Marcus Smart for the tip and I’m thinking about that,” Mitchell said after the game. “Thank God he missed them and we won.”

Mitchell played in 47 minutes and scored 40 points on 14-of-34 shooting. He had 11 rebounds and four assists. Evan Mobley scored 15 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in 41 minutes. Lamar Stevens came off the bench and added eight points and eight rebounds. Stevens was plus-18 at the time of the game.

Cleveland coach JB Bickerstaff gave a lot of credit to Stevens after the game. Stevens entered the game as Cleveland trailed by 14 points, but he made the most of his minutes.

“We couldn’t possibly win that game without Lamar,” said Bickerstaff. “He changed the tone, the physicality, the effort.”
